Side Project: Table Saw Sled

Back to woodworking again after another hiatus and while I’d like to get on with my boat building, I’m realizing that the next step of framing support and hull construction is one I have to do all at once and will take up a large portion of my garage space. So until I can clear more of my garage and create a better layout, I’m using that space and extra time to build and create.

First up:

Table Saw Sled to help with cut efficiency and safety

1. Cutting out Bottom boards, Zero-clearance inserts, Safety box and handle cutouts, front and back fences

2. Squaring the bottom boards with the zero clearance inserts, using the drill press to pre-drilling the holes for anchoring the front and back fences

3. Routing grooves and inserting the T-tracks into the not-yet-fastened bottom boards, getting an idea of what the sleds final form is going to be

4. Dado cut the back fence on the table saw to fasten a t-track on top. Couldn’t use a router for this since I don’t have a router table and can’t edge cut a vertical piece yet with my current system.

5. Fastening the back and front sled fences to the sled base board after squaring with the table saw fence
